COURT LINDEN

A 200-year-old monumental small-leaved linden.

As tradition states, since 1602 in Karpacz when the weather was good a village leader organized trails under the wide-spreading crown of the linden standing opposite current Bachus Restaurant. Since that time the tree has been called the Court Linden. Next to it there is a symbolic judicial stone table and a bench and a pranger to which judged criminals lined up in the queue.

In the ancient Greece, linden was a symbol of innocence, purity and hope. It was planted in the middle of a settlement and under its crown war meetings, courts and ritual dances were held and marriages were concluded.

The linden, with the circumference of over 5 meters is recognized as a natural monument.
