Mountain Huts

If you want to feel the atmosphere of the Giant Mountains, do not forget to visit one of the mountain huts. Four places can be found along the tourist trails which provide tired hikers with food and shelter: Silesian House („Dom Śląski”), Samotnia, Academic Thatch („Strzecha Akademicka”) and By Łomniczka River  („Nad Łomniczką”). Be prepared for crowds during the high season as there are a lot of hungry people.  Look at interior while standing in the queue, each of them is the real gem. In the past more attention was paid to interiors creating special atmosphere of such places. In the Academic Thatch, the tiled stove in the dining room and paintings on the window woodwork should draw your attention. In each facility you can find some interior gems. 

Except for the hut By the Łomniczka River („Nad Łomniczką”) all places offer tourist accommodation services. It is a great idea to spend at least one night in the mountains to enjoy the sound of guitar in the evening and sunrise in the morning. Maybe, you will be lucky enough to see deer grazing in front of the mountain hut very early in the morning. 

By the Łomniczka River („Nad Łomniczką”) is worth mentioning as its atmosphere is magical even during the day. That is the only mountain shelter in the Giant Mountains without access to electricity. Prepare yourself for an interior bathed in twilight and don't forget to try pancakes with blueberries prepared on a wood-burning stove.
