CHURCH OF THE VISITATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Originally Karpacz belonged to the Miłków parish. In the initial period masses took place in the catholic school. Today it is the house opposite the church with a big cross and Christ figure.

Existing church was built in 1910. The characteristic form of the temple with an onion-shape dome of the tower refers to the Tyrolean baroque architecture. In years 1979-85 the building was expanded and gained its present shape.

Inside the church, there is a late baroque altar with the painting of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and two side figures of St. Peter and St. Anthony. A polychrome which dates back to the construction period is depicted on the wooden ceiling in the old part of the church.

During restoration of the church tower in 2007, three handwritten German parchment documents bearing the date of  28.10.1909 were found in the sphere crowning the tower. The documents describe efforts to build the church, its construction and give names of people involved it this undertaking. They were put in the sphere again with contemporary materials including the description of the parish and Karpacz and a town map.
