Culture

Nature was a source of inspiration of Classicism and Romanticism. Suddenly, artists saw beauty, spirit and mysterious atmosphere in the pristine wilderness of remote and dangerous Giant Mountains. They became an inspiration for poets, painters, sculptors and composers... Suffice to say that the Mountain Ghost gave life to 15 musical works, including 5 opera (i.e. Carl Weber). The most famous poet who was inspired by the Giant Mountains was Tadeusz Różewicz. He visited Karpacz in the nineties for the first time. He was meeting with his friend, Henryk Tomaszewski, the founder of Wrocław Pantomime. With time, he started coming here more often and his next visits resulted in new poems. Today as in the past, the Giant Mountains still inspire. The beauty of the landscape, the tradition, the atmosphere of the city influence the imagination of talented inhabitants of Karpacz.
