We recommend you our town as winter holiday destination. At this time of year Karpacz ensures only advantages: clear, frosty, mountain air strengthens your organism and well developed sports and recreation infrastructure encourages active leisure.
Karapacz is an ideal place for those who are entering the world of downhill, cross-country skiing and ski touring. Easy and professionally prepared ski slopes, perfect for entire families are located in every part of the town. You may count on support of instructors on each ski slope and rent the equipment in one of many available rental places. There are two chair lifts (6- and 4-seater chair-lifts) within two ski stations, other ski slopes are equipped with drag lifts and magic carpets for the youngest. More qualified skiers may use the ski resort 'Śnieżka' which ski runs go through Karkonosze National Park.
Trails of Karkonosze National Park available in winter are also an ideal place for ski touring or snowshoe tours. Amateurs of cross-country skiers should visit Upper Karpacz (Karpacz Górny) where the track to practice this sport is designated. If snow conditions are appropriate it is possible to learn cross-country skiing with a trainer and rent a good quality equipment. And if you are advanced cross-country skiers use the route on the Plateau under Śnieżka (Równia pod Śnieżką) from Silesian House (Dom Śląski), through Czech (Lucnia Bouda) to the peak of Small Helmet (Mały Szyszak). Training at an altitude of 1.400 m.a.s.l. with a view over Jelenia Góra Valley is a pure pleasure and amazing experience.
Of course throughout the year, also in winter, we remember about the youngest guests who visit our town. Children can let off steam on dedicated toboggan hills (centre of the town Płóczki Districts), snow tubing tracks or an all-year-round luge track Alpine Coaster. Fans of ice skating may use a synthetic ice-rink open year-round and in the evening we invite all interested on a sleigh ride in torch-light.
