„Skijoering” derives from a Scandinavian language and means literally 'ski driving'. This type of activity developed in Scandinavia, and originally it was used in connection with performed profession or the necessity to move quickly. At the beginning of the 20th century, ski-joering was promoted and developed as another winter sports discipline. Swiss were the leaders and they noticed how attractive and spectacular this sports is. Today, it is St.Moriz where the most famouse skijoering competition are held. Initially, skiers were pulled by horses but over time they were gradually replaced by motorbikes, quads and snow scooters.
