THE FINISH LINE OF TOUR de POLOGNE

Tour de Pologne was first held in September 1928 roku. The first edition of the race was organized by the Warsaw Cycling Society and the „Przegląd Sportowy" sports newspaper. It was one of the biggest sports even in Poland during the interwar period.  The tradition of the race was reborn after the Second World War in 1947. Until 1992 amateur cyclists could participate in the event.

In 1993, Czesław Lang, a silver medalist of 1980, srebrny medalista olimpijski z 1980 roku, a precursor of Polish professional cycling, invested hif own funds in the race making it a world ranking event in a short time.

In 2005 as decided by UCI the race was included in the elite of cycling events - a series of road bicycle races called ProTour. 20 best teams in the world are required to compete in these races.

From 1999 to 2007 TOUR de POLOGNE ended on Orlinek in Karpacz.

The uphill road to Orlinek is called by cyclists a WAILING WALL, because competitors had to go through 4 km, dealing with a 400-metre difference in height and climb up to 800 m.a.s.l.
